The Dutch ambassador in Iraq, Jeroen Rodnberk searched with the governor of Basra, the possibility of providing jobs for his country's companies in the province.
Rodnberk said through a press statement that «the meeting with the governor of Basra has been fruitful, as we dealt with several topics, in the forefront of the agricultural sector and the construction of dams, and we informed the local government in Basra that the University of Delft, is specialized in this field and is ready to receive a scientific delegation from the University of Basra and discuss matters of agricultural and scientific ».
He added that « the Kingdom of the Netherlands is seeking to document their relationship with the local government in Basra and increase the bonds of cooperation and bilateral trade and has planned to open a diplomatic representation or commercial in Basra especially in light of the influx of a lot of Dutch companies to work in Basra, especially in the oil ».
For his part, the governor of Basra Khalaf Abdul Samad said «Our meeting with the Dutch delegation includes the horizon of future cooperation in the field of agriculture, the construction of dams and the application of successful Dutch experiment in this field in the city of Basra». He added that « the meeting also included the possibility of entry of big Dutch companies that are known with the possession of the high developed techniques and methods of work to compete for investment opportunities in ».
