Najaf has gained more than 8.5 billion Iraqi dinars from the petrodollar law through refining more than 3.5 million oil barrels in the first half of the year, director of the Najaf refinery said on Monday.
"The refinery has refined 3511499 barrels during the first six months of 22012," Engineer Leith al-Gharawi told Aswat al-Iraq news agency, noting that the refining such amount of oil increased the revenues to 8.5 billion dinars.
The Najaf refinery achieved 17.200 billion Iraqi dinars as revenues in 2011 through the petrodollar law, adopted by the Iraqi parliament within the federal budget.
The law allows the province to get two dollars for refining or producing every oil barrel.
