The spokesman of Oil Ministry Assem Jihad, considered the merge of oil and electricity ministries as a futile step for the independence of the functions of each ministry from the other.
Jihad said that "each ministry has a clear path. The Ministry of Oil, for example its mission the development of oil and gas industry in Iraq as well as crude oil processing and the duty of the Ministry of Electricity is to increase the production capacity of electric power through the activity and follow-up to make them independent of other ministries.
He added the ministries of electricity and oil must work separately so that the performance of each ministry clearly reflected positively on the performance of tasks assigned to them and not to influence the future activities of both ministries."
