The next meeting for choosing one of the three oil and gas bills is scheduled for next week, this fact has been revealed by the coordinator of oil and gas committee at the Council of Representatives of Iraq.
The very first oil and gas bill was introduced in the year 2007, but it was thwarted because of the dearth of political consensus. The second one was proposed by the Oil and Gas Committee and the third one of the bill was proposed by Hussein Shahrestani, deputy prime minister of energy affairs.
Another member of the committee, which has been assigned for selecting the one of the bills, Mr. Qasem Mohammed has said that the committee will meet for the second time to discuss on the various details and suggestions.
According to the statement by Mohammed, all the parties have been insisting that Iraq must have the law as soon as possible. According to an MP, everyone has agreed upon the fact that the 2007 bill should be the base of the law, because both Baghdad and Erbil had agreed upon this.
