Governor of Babil, Salim Al-Masalmaoui, laid the foundation stone for a residential compound of 504 apartments. Al-Masalmaoui said, in a speech during the laying of the foundation stone at the work site, "the cost of the compound is over 42,000,000,000 IQD and the complex will include residential units in addition to a mosque, a health center, a park and kindergartens. The contractor has pledged to implement the project in a period of thirty months, and meet the latest international standards." The governor confirmed, "distribution of these apartments will include state employees, according to their employment degree, and other sectors that will be announced in due course," explaining that "this compound is the beginning of the road to eliminating the acute housing crisis currently affecting the province."
