He added that the minister of electricity called the World Bank to secure the sum of one billion dollars to cover part of the concluded contracts by the Ministry with (General Electric) for which they agreed upon supplying Iraq with 56 Units of 125 MW per unit amounted of three billion dollars.
Aziz clarified they also approached the World Bank's contribution through the amount of three million dollars allocated for the purpose of consulting and engineering studies for the electricity sector. Meanwhile, the Ministry confirmed the need for the expeditious completion of power transmission lines along with the implementation of production and distribution. The ministry spokesman Aziz Sultan said that came during the Minister of Electricity Karim Wahid visit to a number of projects being implemented by the Directorate General of Energy Transfer. The round included many power transfer stations in Rusafa , and the Minister examined the completed projects and those in progress, and ordered to overcome obstacles and difficulties of work, noting the importance of completing the work according to the committed time of the implementation along with the energy transfer production and distribution projects.
