An agreement has been signed with Tunisia to settle Iraqi debts to it, the Iraqi Ministry of Finance said on Tuesday, explaining that an estimated 10.25 percent of the debts will be repaid in cash.
“Today, the Republic of Iraq signed a bilateral agreement with the Republic of Tunisia, under which Iraq’s debts to Tunisia will be settled,” according to a ministerial statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Iraq’s debts to Tunisia are estimated at 140 billion, the statement noted.
Several countries, including the United States, Malta, Slovakia and Cyprus, have written off Iraq’s debts. Throughout the past four days, Iraq has settled its debts with 59 countries, including 41 non-Paris Club countries.
