The Turkish consul in Basra invited Turkish companies to invest in Iraq in general and Basra in particular. Mohie al-ddin Ahmed said during a meeting with the Chairman of the Provincial Council and a number of its members.
"The discussions with the Provincial Council to examine the role of Turkish companies and the way to invest in Basra, especially after the meeting between representatives of local government and a number of Turkish investors and businessmen on the sidelines of the Reconstruction Conference for Iraq, which was held earlier this year in Turkey."
"The Turkish companies have made the first goal in the Iraqi market and are seeking to increase their activity in Iraq in general and the city of Basra in particular for its economic credentials," he said.
He pointed out that the "delay of opening the Turkish consulate in the province due to administrative reasons, and it is hoped to be inaugurated during the coming weeks."
For his part, the Chairman of the Provincial Council Mohamed Saadoun al-Abadi, said "A meeting with the Turkish delegation was headed by Turkish Consul to discuss the process of attracting Turkish companies to invest in Basra." He pointed out that the local government in Basra, "seeks to encourage the investment process with all the international companies that wish to do so.
