ENI expecting a final decision about al-Nasiriyah oil field in April

The Italian chief executive of ENI oil company, Paolo Scaroni stated on Thursday that the company expects Iraq might submit a contract to develop al-Nasiriyah oil field in April.
Scaroni said on the sidelines of an energy conference organized by OPEC, "Iraq is eager to take a quick decision about this field."
He said, "Our priority now is Nasiriyah, ENI is participating in Nasiriyah since years ago ... it is a huge field and we have always been interested in it."
Scaroni said that the fields' production can be up to one million barrels of oil per day.
The Spanish Repsol Company and the Japanese Nippon Oil are competing to develop this field as well.
The Iraqi Oil Minister Hussain al-Shahristani clarified on Wednesday, it is expected that al-Nassiriya field will produce 100 thousand barrels per day within 18 months.
