Oil export halted due to Sabotage

Oil export halted due to Sabotage
Iraqi oil exports from nother part of the country, i.e. Kirkuk oilfield to the Mediterranean port of Ceyhan in Turkey have been on hold since late Sunday due to an "act of sabotage" against the line inside Iraq. This has been reported by a person, who is familiar with these matters and a middle-east shipping agent by profession.
Around 300,000 barrels a day is used to be exported through that pipeline, which is one of the important pipelines between Iraq and Turkey recently. It has been reported that the pipeline has been cut down by some unknown attackers, who are probably connected with crude oil smuggling. The pipeline is located near a place called al-Shurgat north of Baiji, 200 kilometers north of Baghdad.
The person also added that the repair process of the pipeline is underway. "The flow from Kirkuk has shut down since Sunday night and it is still closed," the agent said.
Loading of Iraqi crude oil from Ceyhan port already under the suspension from Monday! The Iraq-Turkey pipeline has frequently suffered attacks, sometimes inside Turkey and on other occasions inside Iraq. The pipelines remain unused for a long after US led invasion in 2003.
