A senior provincial officer of Anbar province claimed that scores of foreign firms have fled the restive Iraqi Province of Anbar. Saadoun al-Shaalan, the official, stated that flights of foreign firms are withdrawing themselves from the province due of the violence and major security concerns. Though, the security issues are toughly measured by the government and violence has not been ruled out of the state in past few months, which is a concern for the firm owners, as well as for the common people of Iraq.
Iraq has experienced several violent activities, including massive explosions, car bombings, etc. Terrorists have targeted the provinces which were relatively peaceful in last few years. Shaalan explained that at least 23 foreign firms have withdrawn themselves from the province in past four months as the security of the province has been toppled by massive violent activities.
Ramadi is the capital of Anbar province and Anbar is identified as mostly vulnerable for the violent activities. It enjoyed a semblance of tranquility when its tribes turned their guns against al-Qaeda, forcing its member to leave their areas.
However, violence returned in the province lately! The province has a predominant number of Muslim Sunni who rose against the majority Muslim Shiite government. The flight of foreign firms from Anbar is definitely a huge concern as other firms, working in other provinces, like Diyala, Tikreet and even Baghdad may take such steps due to security problems.
