Rumaila oilfield of Iraq hits 2 billion barrels production

Ministry of oil has praised the outstanding efforts of a consortium of BP, Petro China and Southern Oil Company (SOMO), for their success in attaining significant increase in the national crude oil production by working in the Rumaila oilfield of Basra province, Iraq.

According to report, new production has hit a record amount of more than two billion barrels, exceeding the production by that field alone, during past few years.

Oil ministry spokesman, Mr. Asheem Jihad said in a statement, “Coalition of foreign companies and State Oil Company has succeeded in raising the production from the Rumaila oil field of Iraq to such high quantity which was unprecedented within a period of last 54 months.” He also mentioned his thankfulness to the workers of the oilfield and highly appreciated that coalition management.
