Maysan Oil Company has announced the increasing of production Halfaya field of natural gas, which is used as fuel the power plants in central and southern governorates.
The general director of Maysan Oil Company Ali Bahadli said, "The Halfaya field has been rising quantities of natural gas to produce 80 million standard cubic feet per day, and from that 21 million are exported to the station Kahla as operating fuel."
He also added in his statement that Petro China, the company responsible for developing the Halfaya oil field, commenced in cooperation with teams of Maysan Oil Company with a plan to invest in gas associated with the extraction of oil and natural gas production, which will contribute to the stability of electric power and increase production.
According to him, the foreign companies operating the fields of this province are now looking forward to serious business. Project completion rates in the province are quite high and after assurances obtained by the company and the Board of Maysan province, foreign companies are looking forward to rapid expansion.
It has been also reported that the Maysan provincial council had met with a coalition of oil companies to develop oilfields to confirm that the province fields are not affected by the events of security turmoil in northern Iraq. Adequate measures have been taken to stress on intensifying protection in the work sites of those companies.
