Security and political turbulence has not affected oil companies in Iraq

Hans Vekab, the head of the Governing Council of Shell oil companies in Iraq, said that the work of the oil companies have not been affected by the security and political situation in Iraq.
According to statement, received from Araji’s office, it has been disclosed Vekab said that during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Bahaa al-Aaraji in the latter's office in Baghdad.

Araji has discussed with the company's chairman, the final levels of production of the oil fields that the company is working on its development, especially the giant Majnoon oil field. The Deputy Prime Minister confirmed the Federal Government's willingness to support Shell and exert maximum efforts in order to overcome the obstacles facing the work and double the production in Majnoon oil field.

Araji called the company to commit in dealing with the Oil Ministry to encourage the process of investment in the oil and gas sector in Iraq.
For his part, the Director of Shell companies expressed the company's commitment to work and invest in Iraq, as announced that the investing companies have not been affected in the development of Iraqi oil and gas sector with the political and security situation in the country.

Iraq is achieving a steady increase in crude exports despite the war being waged by Baghdad government against ISIS since a year ago. Oil fields and strategic installations remained far from the dangers of war.

Shell had signed earlier this year an agreement with Iraq worth $ 11 billion to build a petrochemical complex in Basra. Shell is one of the major producers of oil south of Iraq, where it operates Majnoon oil field and leads the joint project of Basra Gas Company. It had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry called Nebras project in 2012.
