Vice President and Secretary of the Iraqi Business Council Saad Naji said, "Iraq has reached the final stages of the rehabilitation of the company executing the Basra – Aqaba oil pipeline project." He also mentioned, "The qualification procedures go according to the scheme by both the Iraqi side and Jordanian."

Naji said that the Iraqi Oil Projects Company, a State-owned company responsible for the project, is still going so far in the project procedures, including contractual procedures of major construction companies that have been rehabilitated to implement the project.

He stressed that there isn’t any decision until the moment by the relevant authorities in his country's influence on the future implementation of the project or lead to the repeal, noting that security disturbances taking place in Iraq recently may only affect the length of time for implementation by the contractors.

Iraq and Jordan had signed on April 9, 2013 a framework agreement to build a pipeline to transport Iraqi crude oil from Basra to the export ports in the port of Aqaba, on the Red Sea coast.
