The parliamentary finance committee's member, Husam al-Uqabi said that Iraq has suffered a financial loss of more than 4 billion dollars.
In a press statement, he stated that "the production and export of crude oil during the past two months, (January and February) did not reach to the planned figure in the 2015 budget and this caused a financial loss estimated at more than 4 billion dollars."
He emphasized "the need for the Ministry of Oil to increase exports to the planned figures in the budget, which amounts to 3 million and 300 thousand barrels of oil per day to cover the shortfall caused by the drop in the price of oil in global markets on one hand, and to consolidate the revenue and achieve cash needed."
He warned government against continuing export current oil quantity. He stated, "Repeat the fiscal deficit for export in its current form will arrive in huge amounts of money, which will negatively affect the Iraqi economy."
