Connecting Iraq and Azerbaijan, rail network to be developed

Iraqi Minister of Transport Baqir Jabr al-Zubeidi said that both Iran and Iraq are implementing $45 mln-railway project.
The minister stated, “We agreed on construction of 32 km-railway line, which will connect south and north. Moreover, we’ll commence construction of Railway Bridge in the length of 700 m from Basra's Sinbad Island to Shatt-al-Arab River.”
According to him, this project will connect Iraq with other countries, including China and Azerbaijan via Great Silk Road. The project will be completed after 20 months.
