Iraq has welcomed Singapore companies to seek business opportunities in the country.
Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for energy affairs Hussain Al-Shahristani made this point during his meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
The Iraqi deputy prime minister is in Singapore for a three-day visit.
During his meeting with Mr Lee at the Istana, they discussed Iraq's economic potential and other aspects of bilateral cooperation that could be explored.
DPM Shahristani also conveyed his appreciation for Singapore's technical assistance to Iraqi officials, while Mr Lee hoped that Iraq could send more officials to Singapore for training.
DPM Shahristani also met with Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang. A statement from Singapore's foreign ministry said their discussions focused on Iraq's energy sector and possible economic opportunities for Singapore.
