Salman al-Moussawi, MP of National Alliance and member of the Economic Committee has confirmed that the crisis in Syria will affect the Iraqi economy and the government must take some steps to handle the crisis which is to come.
According to a statement published on Friday, Moussawi has stated that the crumbling political scenario of Syria will have an impact upon the economy of the region and that will include Iraq too. So, some actions should be taken to deal with the crisis that can affect the economy of Iraq and result into higher price of the goods in the local market.
He has also pointed out that, finding alternatives for importing and encouraging the local agriculture and industry to become self-sufficient will help to deal with the Syrian crisis and its impact upon the national economy.
He has showed interest to allot some money to the sectors that can generate income like agriculture and trade, tourism and industry. This way those sectors will become self-sufficient and people of the country won’t have to depend upon the imported goods only. These sectors will be helped with interest free loans and allotting money from the budget. These sectors will be able to generate more employment and also encourage the private sectors and reduce unemployment.
