“NAWAH” North American Western Asia Holdings proclaimed that they have entered into an official agreement with Iraq’s Ministry of Transport and CGPI “General Company for the Ports of Iraq “to renovate and upgrade a historic port established in Basra’s urban center situated on the Shatt al Arab watercourse.
The American Company is said to fetch heavy-lift crane and even massive container handling potentialities as per the signed agreement to the 93 year old historic port. It is also of the news that “NAWAH” will also be constructing a contemporary and advanced container of yard length contiguous to the port’s 14th berth. Reportedly this agreement will continue for 10 years.
Umm Qasr Port, being Iraq’s only modern port some 40 miles downtown Basra, acted as a hindrance failing to provide a consummate exposure of Basra’s various merchant communities and industrial holdings. With this historic port being reconstructed and renovated Basra will not only have an access to a containerized berth of the highest order and facility but will also have a complete exposure of its merchant houses.
Hadi Al-Amiri, the honorable transport minister of Iraq said that modernizing Maqual Port of Iraq would be Iraq’s initial step to ameliorate, enhance and elevate Iraq’s shipping and port expertise. Paul Brinkley “NAWAH’s” CEO and President asserted that Iraq’s prosperity and rapid advancement rested on Iraq’s port capabilities. This venture would be a key step in facilitating Basra, regain its status as leading trading base.
Hadi Al-Amiri also said that having an US company like “NAWAH” investing in their country in order to boost long term economic growth sends out a promising message to the various American and International investors worldwide claiming Iraq to be accurately competent and befitting for international investment.”NAWAH” links major American corporate houses and corporations with partners all over Iraq and West Asia creating unwavering, blooming and flourishing business communities.
