At a thrilling world cup qualifying match between Iraq and Jordan, the score was nil-nil up to 86 minutes but finally the deadlock was broken by Hammadi Ahmed when he took a firing shot within range of 20 meter from the post. Jordan has missed many easy opportunities and finally the score ended in1-0. This was crucial victory for Iraq as they now got five points in five matches and leveled with second placed Australia and Oman.
Japan is leading in the Group B table with 13 points and recently beat Oman in Muscat with a 2-1 score. They will certainly take one of the two guaranteed positions from the qualifying round.
Due to security purposes FIFA did not allow Iraq to host their home matches and they were forced to play at Qatar and that is why their chances of qualifying in the main round was looking very less. But their sudden victory on Wednesday without having many key players in their team boosts their confidence a lot.
On Wednesday, Both sides have met for the fourth time in the qualifying match. Before match, Brazilian coach Zico announced a full 20 year old squad who played horribly in the first half. But at the end 30 minutes game suddenly came into life and Iraq finally got their desired victory.
