Iraq forces strengthened security measures around government and also private banks in most of the Iraqi cities on Thursday (December 13th), in anticipation of terrorist attack, police reported.
Col. Fawzi Kamel al-Bayyati, the director of facilities protection police at the Iraqi Interior Ministry said that they received intelligence pointing that a few terrorist groups have gone bankrupt and may resort to launching attacks using car bombs and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), followed by armed robberies on these banks.
The recent measures are precautionary, he said and also engage setting up advanced search equipment at the entrances of these financial institutions.
