The economic committee within the Karbala provincial council declared that registering a noteworthy rise in prices of various goods because of the closing border inlets.
Tariq al-Khekani, the chairman of the committee stated to the media that the resolution of the government of closing the border inlets came out with the result in increasing the prices of goods and food by 3 %, indicating that Karbala is a tourist province that requires to be supplied by a variety of imported goods.
Tariq also demanded the Government for speeding up the process of reopening the border inlets, especially because Karbala is considered the entrance of food materials for middle and southern provinces.
Earlier, the Government of Iraq made decision of closing the border inlets for the security reasons, while the Ministry of Defense excluded food materials out of borders prevention.
