Finance minister, Chinese amb. discuss economic cooperation

Iraqi Finance Minister Mohamed Baqer al-Zubaidi on Monday discussed with the Chinese ambassador in Baghdad means of fostering economic relations between the two countries.
“The minister asserted the Iraqi government’s keenness to foster cooperation, mainly in investment, reconstruction in oil and electricity sectors and the rehabilitation of the infrastructure,” the finance ministry said in a statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The minister also highlighted the importance of writing off the $8.5 billion debts owed by Iraq to the Chinese government,” it added.
