Iraq and United Arab Emirates have agreed to set a timetable for the joint cooperation, at the time when the Deputy Prime Minister Rafie al-Issawi has reviewed in Dubai the ways to develop the Iraqi ports. Al-Issawi and his accompanying delegation, met Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of al Sharjah Emirate, where the two sides examined the future of political relations and the ways to enhance them through the opening of new aspects of cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, housing and exchanging scientific expertise, and to agree on timetables and meeting programs to determine the framework of cooperation . Sheikh Al Qassimi praised the tangible improved security and the pure political atmosphere between the parties in Iraq. Al-Issawi, also agreed with Sheikh Sa’ud bin Saqr, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah on the development of economic and trade relations for the benefit of Iraq and UAE peoples. Al- Issawi and his entourage arrived to Abu Dhabi last week and held talks with UAE officials, and took part in the conference of Iraqi and Emirati businessmen. Meanwhile, the Deputy Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation held a meeting at the headquarters of Dubai World, in the port of Jebel Ali which was attended by the Minister of Electricity Karim Wahid , Sami al-Araji the Chairman of the National Authority for Investment and the Government’s Spokesman Ali Al-Dabbagh. The meeting was chaired from UAE side by Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, the Deputy of Dubai World Ports, and discussed the ways to develop the Iraqi ports, such as the large port of Faw, Khawr al-Zubayr and Abu Flus and others, as well as the need to revive the Free Zones in order to provide thousands of employment opportunities for Iraqi and UAE companies. Al-Issawi roamed in Jebel Ali Port and examined the techniques of modern shipping and handling, and the use of sophisticated management systems in running the port. He stressed that the revival of the Iraqi ports would provide a large number of jobs and create unique employment opportunities to both Iraq and UAE.
