Projections and discussions over Baghdad metro

Projections and discussions over Baghdad metro

Discussions are going on over the historic project of Baghdad metro. Since it has been discussed in the first International Conference for Technology and Communication Engineering in Baghdad’s University of Technology, curiosity amongst the common citizens is rising. A lot of people believe that this project will solve the transportation issues of the city and the officials have confirmed that the project will be implemented by the end of this year.

In the year of 1981, the proposed metro project was first discussed but no implementations have been observed till then. It is quite obvious that the project was under suppression due to many reasons, including the US led invasion in Iraq and back to back wars in the country. Dean of Engineering Faculty, University of Technology, Riyadh Hassan Al Anbari stated that the project will be soon underway and expected to be completed in a most robust way.

Amin Thamer Dawi, Head of the University of Technology, said, “This metro aims to introduce technology to our country and provide our people with the services their need. I think that the implementation of this project will bring about an economic boom.”

The metro project will provide transportation in 19 hours a day and metro station with its two courses will cover Al Karakh and Al Rasafa. More than 7.5 billion dinars will be the project cost in total. The project length will reach 46 kilometers with two courses, each of 23 kilometers. The first course starts in Al Sader city and the second in Al Aa’qaba square. The metro will encompass 86 trains and each will be 15 meters longs with a gross cost of 7.5 billion Dollars.

Imad Al Husseini, representative of Higher Education Ministry, told, “Truth be told, the first International Conference discussed important sectors of technology and engineering. A society cannot improve if its transportation means aren’t modern.”

The capital city of Iraq, Baghdad will experience reduced traffics after the successful completion of the project, as assumed by the experts.
