On Thursday, Iraqi government said that it signed a partnership agreement with the World Bank through which the bank will provide support to the country's public and private transport sector.
According to a government statement, "The agreement states that the World Bank will support the private and public transport sector, develop its work mechanism, and encourage global investment companies to work in Iraq under the bank's guarantee as a main guarantor in this field."
The step is important for Iraq as part of the government's program to develop the country's transport sector and stimulate foreign investments, the statement said.
