» Home » Business News Iraq Directory Services Plans Subscription Contact us Site Map Help About Iraq The establishment of 5 dams in Al-Sulaymaniyah governorate and digging 157 wells for agricultural purposes An official source in the General Department of Dams and Treasurer belonging to the Ministry of Water Resources reported that the department executes 5 small dams in Al-Sulaymaniyah governorate on the stream of Kani Azmar valley, while the work is continuous in digging 157 wells in governorates [Arbeel - Kirkuk - Al-Sulaymaniyah - Dhouk] where the number of achieved wells reached to140 wells, which will be used for agricultural purposes. The source pointed that the work is continuous now for execution of Horan dam (a small dam that is located in Horan Valley 18 kilometers northeast of Al-Rutba) with a storage energy of 50 million cubic meters, as the development of number of dams in Western Desert takes place and completion of a dam in west of Najaf City, these dams provides drinking water to the city.
