The Japanese government is moving forward with plans to offer job training programs and yen-denominated loans to Iraq in light of worsening security conditions there, Asia Pulse reported.
Some $1.5 billion in grant aid and $3.5 billion in yen-denominated loans, to be distributed in the three years starting 2005, are the main components of Japan's financial cooperation.
Of the grant aid, $1.15 billion will be applied toward the maintenance of hospitals and repairs for such infrastructure as water and electricity systems.
