Dubai
At least 350 Iraqi companies have joined a new business centre to be set up in Dubai soon, said a report.
The centre is being launched under an initiative by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister, to help the Iraqis still struggling with the reconstruction of their war-torn country
The business centre, according to a Gulf News report, aims to help Iraqis still struggling with the reconstruction of their war-torn country.
Iraqi companies working within the IBC will be registered with Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza), and enjoy all the free zone's benefits. The centre itself though could be outside the free zone area.
The report adds that many Iraqi businessmen welcomed the initiative, saying it offers many facilities seldom given to Iraqis elsewhere.
'The most important thing is that this centre has been approved and initiated by Shaikh Mohammad, which is an extremely important support for our activities,' said Raad Jabouri, an Iraqi businessman who registered his IT company to operate within the new centre.
'It is not just a real estate project, it is a genuine attempt to help Iraqi businessmen conclude deals, and do business in an atmosphere conducive to trade activities.'
Sources said so far 350 companies have signed on, and are engaged in a wide range of activities that include Information Technology, subcontracting, pharmaceutical and other fields of trade and industrial projects, the report added.
