The Department of Water Resources in Kirkuk continues working on cleaning and developing Al-Khasa River (4km inside Kirkuk city) costing 3.5 billion Iraqi dinars. The achievement rate is 60% which consisted of building 10 basins, covering sides of the river with stones, and works of cleaning and clearing.
The director of Department (Mr. Shihab Hakeem Thae'er) declared that they started in padding channels of Kirkuk Irrigation Project in Al-Haweeja, Daquq, Al-Riadh and Taza districts costing 1.1 Iraqi dinars.
The work included clearing streams and drainages with assistance of Department of Maintenance to supply Kirkuk with water project from Al-Zab River in Dabs province, and supplying irrigation water to arable lands in allover Kirkuk from Kirkuk and Al-Haweeja irrigation projects.
The Department of Water Resources in Kirkuk prepared a study on constructing a dam on Al-Khasa River in Yaroly region as well as other dams on natural valleys in different places to supply water continually.
