» Home » Business News Iraq Directory Services Plans Subscription Contact us Site Map Help About Iraq $26 million to revive marshes in Thi-Qar The Administration of Water Resources in Thi-Qar governorate started implementing the Project of Marshes Outlets costing $26 million in the area between Suq Al-Shuiok in Thi-Qar and Madeena Basrah governorate. The Administration director (Mr. Ali Shaheen) said that the project includes implementing 40 outlets which will be very effective in treating increase of marshes waters and preventing floods that might expose nearby villages to danger. Concerning this subject the Center of Marshes Research in Thi-Qar University is preparing many reports, field studies and researches in order to participate in an international conference will be held in Kuwait. Ammar an international scientific institution supplied the Center of Marshes Research with all kinds of necessary equipments as well as internet. The Center plans to exchange information with Italian and Japanese Ministries of Environment, and American and Canadian concerned institutions as well as the Iraqi Academy of Environment for developing the Center. Both Japan and Italy donated 11 and $15 million respectively for developing Marshes area specially the major services there. The Administration of Constructional Planning in the governorate contracted with International companies to prepare a study of rehabilitating marshes during the next year under the supervision of Ministry of Municipality and General Works.
