The Commission on Public Integrity (CPI) created it to receive people’s complaints about corruption directly. From October 24 2004, the day when the hotline began to work, up to today, we received more than one hundred completed calls. These have been recorded and copied within special files in the Investigation Office, which will do more detailed investigation about these accusations. In all cases, regarding the name and identification or any information that will be given by any Iraqi person, it is going to be kept confidential. Regarding the above notices, the CPI has received and confirmed as true some information about corruption that has happened and strict actions that have been taken about them. Investigations have been opened to look into four ministries concerning corruption based on information the CPI has received from the citizens calling in on the hotline. CPI Commissioner Radhi Hamza al Radhi stated that if CPI received a deceptive call or if the caller is double dealing for his own personal reasons, then will stop the investigation and close the case. But if the call was real and supported with evidence and proof, then the commissioner is going to investigate and apply the disciplinary punishment called for in public sector law number 14 for the year 1991. Or refer it to criminal court if necessary so it can be dealt with according to criminal laws. The hotline (7782653) receives and answers the citizens calls directly during work hours. After hours, CPI has an operator which will get the name and phone number of the citizen so that we can make a direct contact by calling the citizen the next day. To minimize the burden on the citizen, in case he can’t make a call through the hotline with the number 7782653, the commission has an e-mail for this purpose with the address alnazahahotline@yahoo.com. The citizen can send the evidences and proofs which we need for investigation in person, or by internet instead of coming here from cities far away, according to his preference. The commission encourages the generous citizens of Iraq to make immediate, direct calls to cut off the road of corruption and build up strong, high barriers in front of those people who try to delay the acceleration of our nation’s progress.
