| | |  |  | | New water projects, a comprehebsive environmental survy in Al-Basrah southern Iraq
Water Department staff in Al-Basra province continues carrying out new water projects in the province to increase the quantity of potable water pumped daily to citizens of the province in a $40.000.000 cost.
Engineer Abed Sitar Akef, director of water department, said "personals of the department undertook changing 10 projects installed in city center, the ability of one of them reach to a quarter million gallon daily, with 1 million gallon projects to become the quantity of supplied water from these projects 10 million gallons daily. In this way we will cover the increasing need for water, besides, maintain the previous projects to insure pumping another quantities equal to the desired quantities.
On the other hand, Seas Science Center in Al-Basra University started a comprehensive environmental survey to restrict the sources of pollution in a scientific way.
Dr. Malik Hessian, general director of the center, had reported that 13 scientific teams are working in the most wide survey campaign so that these teams will submit final reports to the center in order to specify the range of environmental damage in this province.
