Seven international oil (IOCs) companies have been selected by Iraq, which will be allowed to bid on the Nassiriya oilfield project. Revealing this, the Ministry of Oil of Iraq also added that the construction of an oil refinery would also be a part of the project and the overall project will streamline the oil production of the country.
In the prequalification phase, 14 oil companies took part for the integrated development of Nasiriya oil field, along with the construction of an oil refinery with the capacity of 300,000 barrels per day.
After undergoing a long political turmoil, war-torn Iraq is trying to revolve its economy by increasing the oil production of the country. By the year of 2015, the country is aiming for producing 5-6 million bpd of crude oil. It is to be noted that the present production is around 3.4 million bpd, which is highest figure in last three decades.
