Susilo Siswoutomo, Deputy Energy and Mineral Resources Minister commented that around 180,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil to be reaped by gas firm PT Pertamina. The company will work in the West Qurna-1 block oilfield to reap the figure of crude oil, as stated above.
Pertamina will get all kinds of support from the central government on this project in the West Qurna-1 Block oilfield of Iraq, where ExxonMobil is presently operating.
Susilo Siswoutomo is hoping that PT Pertamina will meticulous reap the oil according to plan which illustrates 180,000 bpd of crude will be produced by the company. Susilo Siswoutomo, an Indonesian official, having connection with Iraq, met Prime Minister of Iraq to discuss on the prospects of the economic and energy sectors of Iraq.
Iraq and Indonesia also signed a deal on the context of oil refining. Around 35,000 to 65,000 bpd crude oil to be refined through the implementation of this project!
The project was under the question last year due to the conflictions with the US based oil company Exxon with Baghdad, regarding the company venture into the region of Iraqi Kurdistan, without the consent of Baghdad.
Pertamina investment planning and risk-management director Afdal Bahaudin stated that it is not the matter of Iraq now as everything is depending upon the will of the US based company, Exxon – whether they want to sell their assets or not.
Pertamina is the second largest oil producer of Indonesia now, ranking behind the US Company Chevron. Jakarta based firm Pertamina is quite aggressive in terms of its production and hence, the company’s venture seems to be a plus for Iraq.
