July exports of crude oil to hit 2.6 million barrels per day in Iraq

Oil minister of Iraq, Abdul-Karim Luaibi said on Wednesday that Iraq is presently producing 3.15 million barrels per day of crude oil and the country is expecting hitting 2.6 million barrels per day exports in the month of July, 2014.
Luaibi has arrived to the province of Basra to observe the work flow in oil fields and the local as well as foreign companies operating there.
In a press meeting, during his tour at the Rumaila oilfield in Basra province, Luaibi said that "the fighting in the north and east of the country did not affect the production or exports of oil from the south and export facilities were expanded its capacity to 3 million barrels a day."
He further explained, “We were able to expand our capacity and now our export facilities would carry out the exports of more than 3 million barrels per day.
The oil minister said that he "informed the representatives of international companies operating in Basra about intensified security measures around oil installations South and the situation is very stable in the oil fields in the south."
He also pointed out that security problem developments in Iraq will not surely affect the oil production of the country or exports in any means, especially in the southern oilfields of the country.
In the month of May, the total exports from southern Iraq 2.582 million barrels a day, which is considered to be the highest since the year of 2003, before retreating last June to 2.423 million because of maintenance work and the expansion of a berth in the oil port of Basra.
